water inside

I have done some searching, and have looked at all the usual places where water can leak into our beloved 911, to no avail. Now after leaving my car for a couple of weeks, no water on the floor, I took it for a drive and found standing water in the rear foot well and from foot well, driver side only. Is it possible that this water is coming from underneath those areas while driving. I am at a loss. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

J,
If your car is a targa, this could be very easy to explain...

Do you have a sunroof? Are the windshield and rear window seals in good shape? Door frame and window frame seals intact?

Check your drain tube(s) from the HVAC & main blower encasement in trunk (especiallly the one that has the grill to let fresh air in), it should go out to bottom.

Probably from rear window rubber. Or take your carpets out and inspect your floor. Are any of the acce ss holes in the bottom pushed up? Is your from cover under the steering rack in place?

it is probably related to sunroof or rear window seal. very unlikely coming in from below unless you are driving through flooded streets or something. I would take out the rear seats, shelf and carpeting and hose down the back area. you will probably see a little river coming in from bottom corner of window, pooling on rear seat well, and down to floor.

For REAR footwell leakage, check that the sunroof drain tubes (the ones tucked way back in roof, one on each side) are clear from debris

Put some paper towels under the rear seat cushion, press down, and see if they soak up some water. If the rear window seal is leaking at the corner water can puddle in the cushion well and run down to the floor when you start to drive.

I'd replace the seal...I've the same (similar issue)...What's weird is that the rear seal looks fine,..far better than the front....hope to have a good look when time for the upcoming (windows out-to the metal) repaint.

BEST!

+1 for a new seal.
If you look at the way water sits on the lower corners of the window. You can see where it can sneak past as the seal dries out and loses its elasticity and grip on the window.
It seems to seep through more on the drivers (left) side. I think because that is where the power leads for the defogger come through the inner side of the seal making it a little weaker??.
The last time I had the seal replaced the installer injected some sealer "glue"? under the rubber lip on the window side. He said never put sealer on the metal side.

Have you checked to make sure the sunroof drains are not clogged?

Have you checked the radiator or water pump? hehe, sorry couldn't help myself. My money is on rear windows or door seals.

The sunroof cable guide tracks have a plastic locating pin that indexes into the inner roof in the rear. This must have sealer on it or you can get water in the interior.

I tried Everything suggested and finally did a test to really find out! I taped over the Sun roof, rear window & side windows and Everything stayed Dry. I removed the window tape and still no water which brings me to the Sun Roof! I have cleaned the drains and sealed the plastic pin and now believe that the roof drain is Rusted out!

I plan to remove the headliner on the side and See If this is the case! There are NO other explanations!!

rscotty, you don't happen to have a picture of said pin location that requires sealer but chance.
