Source for MFI throttle body parts
I have searched a bit and can't seem to find anything definitive. I would like to try re-bushing the shafts on some MFI throttle bodies, and am trying to find a source for the bronze bushings and seals. There is no separate part number for these in the PET I have. I have left a message at the well-known east coast TB restorer (who clearly does amazing work), but am not in a position to spend the funds or wait the 8-10 weeks to have these done by someone else. I'm wondering if there is a common source for these parts, or information on sizes that might help me. Thanks

You can get bags of bushings from places like McMaster-Carr.
As long as the ID is correct (or reamable to the right size) you can drill out the old and press in the new. I prefer to do it once and never look at it again. The method I use is to press in 2 bushings (1/2 the length or a little shorter) with an "O" ring in between them. This ensures that there will never be any air leakage in your lifetime. It does put a little more tension on the shaft...but spring pressure and lubricant will take care of that. Bob |

Is the bushing just press fit into the shaft, or is there some sort of pliable seal (rubber?) between the boss and the bushing? The o-ring seams like a great idea to eliminate any air leakage.
