Rebuilt engine trouble

I just rebuilt the top end of my 911 2.4T motor. I have PMO CARBS instead of MFI, new ignition wires, valve job, honed cylinders, and new rings. I let the car run and break in for a total time of about 1 hour, over a period of 2 weeks. The car runs great and strong while out of gear. But when I drove the car, it seems to be struggeling, the car reaches good rpm, but seems to accelerate slowly. Could the tranny be apart of this. Almost like it needs to go to the bathroom.
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks
Eric

Back to basics. Here are some ideas: If you think the tranny is stiff, turn it by hand and see. Remove spark plugs and turn engine by hand. Turn without too much resistance? Check ignition and check fuel delivery. If all that works fine, then so should your engine.

"The car runs great and strong while out of gear."

If only we could harness this much power while IN gear, it'd be great.:)

Seriously, let's go even further back to basics. Superman covered some of them. Have you done a compression test? If okay, and there doesn't seem to be any excessive internal friction, then I'd suspect something in the basic setup or an adjustment while putting it back together (e.g. cam or ignition timing).

I suspect you haven't smelled burned friction material so I would rule out a slipping clutch. You do have free play? Partially collapsed exhaust system?

Difficult to diagnose via wire,
