Dansk 2in 1out modification,performance

Hello Gents,

Got a Dansk 2in 1out 70mm tip, that I realy like. I replaced it with a dual in out B&B to get more power from my engine. Unfortunately, I hate the sound of the
B&B, it is to loud and there is a drone which is untolerable. I have read lots of thread on exhaust modifications.... I was thinking putting a 2 out Dansk
but after reflextion decided aigainst ( too loud and droning).
I still have the 2in 1out Dansk that I would like to improved without a dual out.
Was thinking of cutting it open, gutting the inside and rebuilt like original with slightly larger tubing and maybe larger tail pipe, hoping to retain the same sound
(or about) and improving breathing. Any one have done a similar mod.
Comments ???

Regards :)

Are you sure the B&B is making more power than the Dansk?

Hey Pierre,
Anything you do to "create" less back pressure in a muffler will probably result in a louder exhaust.

I have a 2in/2out Dansk (2.7) and it sounds fine as is, a nice throaty sound. There's a drone at 2800-3000 rpm. Before or after, it's fine and conveniently below highway cruising rpm.

The alternativ is to add a second pipe to the Dansk and fabricate a cup, so you can block off one side when needed. That being said one of the best sounding mufflers I've had was the 84mm single-out Dansk.

Do you plan to sell the B&B mate ???

I have tried many mufflers, trying to obtain the perfect combo of performance and sound. My favorite is the Dansk 2in-1out sport muffler. Note; the same muffler will sound and behave differently on different capacity motors. I had one of the early M&K 2in-1outs and on my 2.7 it was loud, but no drone. i sold it to a friend, who installed it on his 3.0 and complained about the drone. I had a Triad 2in-2out on my 2.7 and it droned so bad that it damaged my hearing, but I now have the same muffler on my 3.2 and it sounds sweet and no/low droning. Check on the forums for muffler testing. The original equip Dansk, Bischoff ,etc. 2in-1out is hard to beat.......many of the others are louder..but actually cause a loss in power, compared to stock mufflers.

The Traid website has posted some 3rd party results:
some test results. See below.

OK, I like it SmileWavy

I am in the process of doing surgery on my Dansk. All the tubing inside the muffler
is about 2"ID, which equal to 3.14" area. I think I will replace each tube inside with 2 1/4" ID. = 3.97" area. I think that this will give a little more breathing and
maybe retain that nice sound. Right now I got the 70mm (2 3/4") tip.
If that combo is not enought I will go with the 3" tip.[img]
The B&B is not for sale at this moment.
