Question rim size

First I'd like to thank all of the Pelican members for all of the help and information, I've been lurking and reading for about a year and have no idea what I'd done without this board....and Rennlist.
Currently I'm running ao32r's on 6" and 7" fuchs, 205/50-15s in the front and 225/50-15s in the rear on a '70 911t, a friend of mine has a '76 911s and claims he could fit 7s in the front and 8s in the rear with the same size tires. It doesn't look like they would fit but he's looking for some 8" fuchs and is planning on trying this. He hates computers so I'm asking the question for him....will the 8" fuchs with a 225/50-15 ao32r fit the rear of his car ?
thanks again,
Slow

If the car has no flares, I cannot see 8's fitting. Are you sure you read this board??

I wonder how 7's would fit in my car...8's? no way!!

Slow:

The 8x16 fuchs with not fit the rear of a narrow body unless flared. I have first hand experience here. I bought a set of the 944 turbo 8x16s with the 23.3 mm offset (the only prayer of getting 8's in there) the 911 8's have a 10.6 mm offset. Well, I ended up selling the 8's and currently run 7's all the way around.

Now there is an exception here. I just found out the other day that a local shop has a factory tool for rolling lips and flaring fenders upto 3/4" without damaging the paint. When I found out about this I just about s*#!. I could have had the 8's with 225/50s, and one mean looking rear. Oh well live and learn.

Hope this helps.

My question is about outting 8x15's on the rear of a 71, can you do that if you roll the fender lips of the car? I have a set of Fuch replicas that are 7x17 and 8x15. My car does not have flares on it now and I don't want to put them on But I do like the deep look of the 7's and 8's. Should I wait and buy real fuch wheels and not use the replicas? Should I roll the fenders now since I am ? about to have it painted any way?

Reg...7x 15 fit the rear of my '70 911t...but I'm still wondering about a 8x15 for the rear on a '76....otherwise a friend will be selling some 8x15 fuchs this spring. He still hasn't mounted the tires.

Slow911,
I have a 72T and have the 7 x 8 x 15 rims with 205/50 and 225/50 tires. They did not fit in the stock fenders using these rims. The fronts are fine but the rears stick out about 1 or 1.5 inches. I ended up adding Carrera flares to make them fit.

I had a beauty set of 16 x 6 and 7 for my car , mounted the 7" (without a tire) on the rear of the car and I couldnt see it fitting. I wished I had a set of old rubber to try but I didnt.

I'd love to see 8's on the rear of a narrow bodied car..especially if it has an extra litre of engine to spin 'em!

Reg,
The 7's should have fit on the back with a set of 205/50's with my 7's. I used to run 15X6 with 205/60 on all four corners. The 205 were a little wide for the 6" rims but looked reasonable. Do you still have the 16's? Are you planning to attend the UCR PCA DE at Mosport?

Hey Slow911, if you have really been reading this board, then it should be obvious that you need to purchase an SC I have 9's rear and 7's front running 245/45's and 225/50's. Talk about a nice butt!

cheers
