Need Hep mounting RSR bumper to 77 car
 

I have an RSR bumper that I want to put on my 77. I have no mounting attachments or hardware. Does anyone have a pic of how these are mounted so that I can fabricate a set?

You can use stock 930 mounts to support the widened flair at the bottom. How you attach the top depends on the thickness of the bumper and how it is made.

The bumper is fiberglass, I have NO problems at all drilling into it to attach the top along the sides, my main concern is how to attach it to the bumper shocks??

FYI: I had purchased a fiberglass rear bumper for my '77 turbo at hershey a few months ago and on the back were mounting plates with two threaded studs. Apparently the bumper had been mounted on a car already.Whether they used the stock shock bumper I could'nt say

The bracket is essentially a plate with threaded studs spaced at the needed distance. Perhaps you could take a steel plate drill two holes using the bracket from the "bumper shock" as a template, then tap the plate? and thread in some lengths of thread all (threaded stud).Perhaps you would want to tack weld the studs in place. This plate is then bonded to the back of the bumper using fiberglass cloth/adhesive.

I'm going to need to build these brackets also for the front RSR bumper after I get through all the other projects I have planned.

You don't mount to the oem bumper shocks, they are too long. Some people take the ones from the front, and build a reinforcing bar behind the f/g bumper cap in the back with them.

Use the stock mounting strut just behind the wheels at the bottom and drill thu the f/g flange into the 1/4 panal flange, 3 or 4 bolts per side. Use a roll of 930 welting between the bumper and 1/4 panel.

Thanks for the replies guys, but after I took my old bumper and everything off, lined up the new one I would have to cut about 2" or more out in order for it to fit. I am thinking of selling the bumper and just leaving it stock.
