proper srating technique
hi ya. i have a 71 911t 2.2 carb. the car is new to me. the hand throttle doesnt work at the moment. im working on it. when the motor is cold, it spins fine, starts up for a few seconds then shuts off. this happens for about 5 or 6 times. then it starts. i have my foot on the gas. what is the proper starting technique?? i was told to turn the key on for a few seconds pull the hand throttle up and start the car. is the reason why it wont start the first couple of times, because the hand throttle is broken? the car starts right up after she is warm.

my technique that works best for me is:
1-turn key on, let fuel pump pump for a few seconds 2-apply full throttle 5 times, each time for 5 seconds or so 3-start car with throttle (and hand throttle) fully closed 4-when car starts (usually second time in the cold weather, with my 46mm webers) and is trying to idle, then I will apply the hand throttle while I am feathering the gas. |
