First time at Hershey, it was great

Wasn't too hot, or cold, could have liked sun, but am glad it didn't rain, well atleast it held until 12 but I left then. I especially liked the orange 911. I believed it was a 1974 34,000 original miles I think, and from wisconsin or minisota i cant remember. I have never seen that many porsches in my life:D Definetly worth the 3 hour drive. What car did you like the best?

cegerer 04-21-2002 12:06 PM

Is this the orange car you saw? It's a 70 or 71. Very nice T!

Yup, that's it:D I couldn't remember the exact year but the owner said everythings original, and never touched... VERY NICE! Do you know if it won?

cegerer 04-21-2002 12:45 PM

Don't know if it won. It was just starting to rain when I took the photo and we left a few minutes later. -- Curt

Same here, we left at around noon (light drizzle), we were very tired. Where was the auto cross? I saw where the hill climb was. I definetly have to check that out next year, going to hershey is something I'm going to do every year, and next year I hope to have my Porsche "Nice enough" to bring there, although I might have to come in some sort of pick-up if I want to get some good deals:D

The autoX was the same place as the swap was, but it was today.

Porsche911T 04-21-2002 03:09 PM

O yea? I though it was just a one day thing, well I could only stay for one day. I drove by the hill climb, just didn't have time to check it out. There's always next year:D

Just got back myself...

That is definately a great 71t! The car which won People's choice in that class was a tan 100% original '69 t. Unwashed and looking very weathered and well used. Which likely made it all the more appealing sitting amongst all its "clean" brothers and sisters.

Sitting next to me was an absolutely beautiful red '69 912 with, get this, 12,000 original miles!! It was attended by a nice older couple. Apparently the gentleman's Mom bought the car new and only used for her "Sunday Drives". She couldn't drive stick all that well and it needed a new cluth at 8,000 mile. The couple did absolutely nothing to the car and you could still eat out of the engine bay. He even had a letter from Dr. Piech himself!

With that car next to me all my car ever saw was the backside of people checking out her neighbor. :(

All-in-all well worth the trip!!

You missed out if you didn't go to the hillclimb Sat. or Sun. Sunbeam Tigers(3), Triumphs, Saabs, Aston-Martin,356,Simca-Abarth, Allard J2, MGs, Volvos, BMWs, and on and on...I went Sunday morning with my boys before the rains came and we had a blast. Just make sure you bring the proper footwear - I wore boat shoes which don't do so well on muddy trails!
