Hi All - long time lurker finally jumping in
Hello everyone! I've been a long time lurker on this forum using the vast knowledge to help with the caretaking of my 89 Carrera. I've had this car since Dec 97, and it still brings a smile to face, whether its the look from the outside, the best view in the world from the driver's seat, or that late braking, heel and toe rev matching downshift into/accelerate out of a turn (whew! that was a keyboard full).
I finally registered a few weeks ago when Imcoz had a pair of Corbeau seats for sale on the classified forum. I've been looking for a new drivers seat for a while, but was too cheap to pull the trigger on new Sparcos or Recaros. The deal for the pair of Corbeaus was too good to pass up on and I jumped in line (Thanks again Chris!!) Fortunately for me the guys ahead of me were looking for the wide version and a couple of days after I gave up on them I noticed a PM waiting for me. The next day the seats were headed my way and that weekend I had a new to me drivers seat in the car. Here's a couple of pics of my ride: ![]() ![]() The first was taken after I painted the petals on the Fuchs - what a difference it made, the second was this past summer after a wash of the car and my other ride while trying out different settings on the camera on my phone. With all the rambling above about the seats, gotta throw a couple pics of it in too ![]() ![]() Its kind of a weird color combo currently inside, but, as with most of us, my baby is a constant work in progress. It crossed the 240k miles mark this past week. Other than changing tires, I've done all the work on it for the past 12 years, thanks to this forum and the Rennlist. In addition to regular maintenance, this includes an engine swap-out, new shocks all around, CV joint replacement, second outlet on the muffler, and one those who live in the South will really appreciate, a Griffith's AC upgrade. Not sure what's next, probably suspension bushings before more interior work, but I went through the first 15 pages of Magnus's hobby out of control post last night, and my head is still spinning from sensory overload....

Thanks for the kind words - she's definately a 10 footer. Plenty of scratches, rock dings and what not from being my daily driver for the past 14 years, 3 months and 9 days (not that I'm counting...)

Great looking car. I like the seats. Was the AC upgrade worth it?

Gusty - it was worth every penny. I had been running without AC since 2003, and even though my commute is less than 30 minutes, on hot summer days the drive home was starting to really get to me. I finally got it running July 4 weekend this past summer, it was like having a new car!
The install was pretty straightforward, I stretched it out over the spring and early summer. It was a project that I could have knocked out over two or three long weekends, but with two kids and all the running around we do that would have been difficult. I probably had about twice as many hours in the project as it should have taken, but that's how all my projects go

Nice car! And nice bike! Good collection. Although those Corbeau's will give you a "third a$$cheek" if you get in and out of the car frequently. I speak from experience.
