Yesterday a few of us Pelican heads gathered at the site of a weekly car show. About 8 or so of us showed and parked near the Viper row and caused just a bit of displeasure. Much to our pleasure.
![]() Was a great time and look forward to doing it again. I believe Lee was the on e to mastermind this outing and a big Thanks to him! Jose was the winner of the longest drive to the meet. About 3.5 hrs. Next time we hope he can bring his P-car.

The Pavillions car show is an amazing event. Not just the number of cars and spectators, but fact that they do it every week!
MarkY was the first to arrive and he squeezed in to Viper territory (with maybe 20 or so Vipers). Fortunately they had just enough space and they were willing to let us stay. Don's '71 T and Richard's '86 Turbo (aka Julie) were certainly the attention getters from our group. I did discover by opening my engine compartment I could increase the viewings of my car, but still couldn't compete with Don and Richard. If you're ever in Phoenix on a Saturday, it's worth a trip to this show. Lots of super cars - hot rods, customs, classics, muscle, antiques, exotics... even some rice and monster trucks! And if you want to really draw a crowd, just show up in your McClaren F1! Yikes! I've read figures ranging from $1.5-2.5 million for the F1 so you can imagine that it got just a bit of attention. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Great people and great cars - what could be better? Hopefully we can make the Pavillions a fairly regular gathering spot. |

I left a little early with the intent on going to the races at PIR. My wife and I went to dinner and by the time we finished, we ended up just going home.
Did I miss anything exciting? I'd like to do this again before summer gets here and give McDonalds advanced notice so we don't intrude on the Vipers again. BTW, did you notice none of the Viper people wandered over to our area? I don't think they were happy with us there because we had the nicer cars. ![]() RJ, sorry I missed you.

MarkY,
You missed some good CheeseSteak! Other than that nothing exciting. Around 1930 or so (7:30 PM) the big truck heads moved in and surrounded us so we headed home... Joe

I talked to the McDonalds folks a couple of weeks ago. The car club row was booked until the end of May. Otherwise it's pretty much first come first served for space. The PA announcements implied that you could save space until 4:00. Maybe next time we could get firm RSVPs and shoot for 3:30.
Since we had a few come and go over the course of the afternoon, we really had just the right number of spaces. I think if we'd had more, somebody would have parked between us. It would be a shame for Don and Richard to steal the show from the McClaren. |
