Cibie Oscar light install
Can someone (ArtGrimmitt, hint, hint) please post details for installing the lights on the hood.
I'm looking for correct location, should they line up with the headlights? Also routing of wires and wiring of relays and anything else pertinent. Do they come with a backing plate? I'll be installing H4s at the same time, after my car gets painted. Thanks.

Nice lights, there is not one only location for placement. They can be mounted on the fenders, just inboard of the headlights and above the horn grills (long hood). They can be mounted either close together or spread on the hood. They can be mounted with the tops lined up with the headlights or just a bit lower.
The wire can run from the passenger side light to the driver side light and then to the driver side edge of the hood then back to the hood hinge and to a relay mounted just in that area. Yes, they should come with backing plates. The mounting placement is a thing of personal preference, what do you think look best. Post pics when you get them mounted. You also may need to rotate the trim rings so the tabs on the bottom do not hit the hood.

boba, thanks for the info, lots of options there, I will have to play with it and see what I like best. I'm thinking slightly lower than headlights centered on hood. The car is getting the full Jagermeister graphics treatment so need to figure placement of everything so it doesn't look too cluttered. What's the purpose of the trim rings? Are there any Porsche switches that's a good fit for fogs/driving lights? Something like an OEM foglight switch with a built-in light.

I have installed these on my 76 backdate, I took a string line accross the head light lens then lined up the cibies to this straight line for placement. I used some chopping board non slip matt to sit them on then you can stand back and view all angles. I make the backing plates for sale on ebay

The trim rings probably hold the lights in the shell.
As for the switches, I'd probably just use a factory fog switch. They have the light built in, look factory and just work. If you have fog lights currently, a second switch would nicely fill the open spot in your dash. Many Euro cars have separate switches for front and rear fogs and even have different little 'icons' for the switch to differentiate them. Here's an example:

My car has been a track car so long that I forgot it came with foglights and the switch is still in the dash next to the defroster, duh! That's perfect. Just need to find some relays.

If you forgot about your fog light switch, perhaps you forgot about your factory fog light relay...?

The car is a '74, PO added fog-lights, which are long-gone due to front IROC bumper/oil cooler.
I need to check if they added fog-light relay as well. There is nothing stock about my car anymore except the original transmission.

That looks sweet, I was questioning my sanity spending a ton of $$ on H4s and Oscars but it's the look I'm going for as I restore the car to spend more time on the street.
