Introduction.
 

Hi guy's. Let me start off by saying hello and thanks for all the info I've already got from here. I have been lurking the site for a while picking up information here and there in hopes of one day pulling the trigger on my first porsche. Well the day has come and I finally found what I was looking for (or close enough). It's a 1966 911, converted to a 1978 carrera SC. The chassis is a 66 but pretty much everything else on the car was swapped over from a 78 including a rebuilt 3.0 done by Mantis Racing in Oakville Ontario (Canada).

I pulled the interior and carpet to adress some rust under the pedal area, and where ever else but so far it looks pretty good. Just some suface rust here and there. The brake fluid resevoir was leaking for so long that it ate right through the paint and rust proof in the pedal area.

Well thats it for now. Looking forward to share my project with you guy's, as I'm sure i'll have a bunch of question's.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and you're right it is madness. I have a feeling this is going to be a "while I'm in here I may as well" type of project!!!

One question (already). The car does not have power brakes. I'm assuming the PO left the 1966 system on. Is there any company that sells a conversion? Or should I find a parts car and strip the power brake sytem?

Is there even a place to mount a booster and a vacum line on a 1966 911?

LOL. Sorry you'll have to excuse the dumb questions. This is my first Porsche. I was a mechanic for 8 years, but not to many Porsches came through the shop. This thing is a totaly different animal. I guess that means no on the power brakes.

Thanks jrolstin I might take you up on that offer. Do you get your parts locally? Just wondering if there are any good part sources in the GTA instead of having to order online.

Just a quick update. Got the interior out and started grinding. Found a couple little holes on the rear seat pan.

Do you guy's think I can fill them in with a mig welder? or should I cut it out and weld a new patch in? And can anyone recommend something to get ALL THIS GLUE OFF.

The biggest hole is about the size of a nickle and the other three a very small. The metal around is solid. This week im going to start removing the old rust proofing with a heat gun. Hopefully there won't be any more surprises.

Any tips/tricks are apreciated
