Carerra headroom?
Ok,so I have looked at and driven a handful of cars lately.
85 Carerra non sunroof/script seats=suitable headroom 81 911sc nonn sunroo/ turbo seats(sport) barely enough headroom 79 911SC Targa / cloth seats= plenty of headroom 84 Carerra targa stock seats/ head touching sagging liner 87 Turbo with sunroof/stock leather = adequate headroom 88 Carerra stock leather= head hitting roof 79 911SC sunroof/stock leather seats= head hitting roof. The 88 Carerra is the best car so far,but I can't see buying a car with my head hitting the roof liner. I am at the pint of either ruling out sunroof cars,or coming up with a solution, and an understanding of why I fit some, and some are a no go. I also have a few cars I really like that are far away, but afraid to commit to a car without sitting in it now. In all cases I have spent the time to adjust the seats to the lowest position, and played with reclining and upright positions to try and mitigate the problem. Open to suggestions here Thanks |

SCs w/sunroof have less head room than non electric seat Carreras. Targa's have lots more headroom! After market custom seats can be lower than stock. Lowering seats is an option in all. Non sunroof cars are rare in US and the racers love them.

Right, the sunroof cars have the least headroom. Targas will probably have the most.
You can always change or modify the seats or seat mounts.

And the Euros often have other interesting stuff. As Jeremy said, the tranny may have a cooler as well as possibly different and more suitable (?) gearing. The cloth is kinda nice but in mine wears a bit more than well maintained leather does. It does tend to be a bit cooler, however.
There's also this tech article here that explains how to modify the seat cushion webbing to lower the occupant's height: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_tall_drivers/911_tall_drivers.htm
