what is it and what does it do?
i was working on the 70e today and in the course of fixing some really bad wiring repairs done by the po i found something i can't identify. it is a heavy cased unit mounted on the wall of the cabin under the dash on the drivers side . it has 3 wires and what looks like a drive cable of some sort, like a speedo cable. the cable was cut and only about 6 in were left and the wiring went to a 3 space fuse panel under the dash. the wires were white, brown, and black. any ideas? help!!!!

If the cut cable is a RF coaxial cable I would guess that it is an early FM antenna adapter for the radio but I would expect there to be two coax cables. Some of the adapters were really huge; the OEM one in my '76 was bigger than the radio! If the cut cable is really mechanical then my next guess is it's part of a cruise control system.
