OK, not an interesting question, but still...
 

I have not used the stereo in the car - never have turned it on, not even once. But - I can see how it might have value at some future point. Someone has taken the effort to put in an amp and some nice speakers. I want to move the amp from the boot to under the front passenger seat. It will fit just fine, even with a hefty passenger. I need to do a few things:

1.) I need to fab something to hold the amp in place under the seat without making holes in the pan. So, what is the way to do that?

2.) I need to remove at least one of the gauges to accommodate the current head unit - a Becker Traffic Pro, which needs an electronic speed signal to do some of it's functions.

Getting the gauge out without damage to any portion of the system has been an issue - I'm concerned about the gasket and the dash itself. Does anyone have a detailed how-to on getting the gauges out without damage?

Has anyone mounted an amp under the passenger seat without drilling into the pan?

On the amp - i'd use 3m 2 sided tape. I've used it to hold two spoilers on cars - my E46 and 2002, and both have been in the weather for years - and no problems.

On the gauge - they just pop out. Get a set of nylon interior tools:

4 Piece Nylon Pry Bar Installer Kit

Get under the lip of one of the gauges and ease it out. Don't get rough.

Should just slip out.

Two-sided tape is MONEY - good suggestion. I even have some. :)

The nylon prybar set is also a good idea. I'll see what I can do about that...

If you have access you can wiggle the gague from the front trunk side and sometimes slide it right out. no tools needed. not sure if youll have access. but might be worth looking
