oil usage?

I have read many posts of people saying their car burns oil at a rate of 1QT 300-800 miles

My question is, I changed my oil last winter with Brad Penn and probably put around 1K miles since

I took my car out last night cause the weather is awesome right now in the NE and when I got home and car was nice and hot I checked the oil and it is smack dab in the middle where i put it

My 84 has 92k on it and I bought it in summer of 2010 with no service history or PPI (I know dont flame me)

Is this just a sign of a nice tight motor

Just curious Thanx

I bought my '86 Cab in January and drove it from Ann Arbor, MI to Winchester, VA. The oil level was right in the center of the stick before I left Ann Arbor. As of today I have driven the car over 1,100 miles and the oil level has not moved. The engine has now close to 68K on it. Yes, the weather is great and I'm driving it top down.

My 85 did not use oil between oil changes.

My 89 will only need about 1/4 to 1/3 of a quart (at best) over oil change intervals @ 3K miles....VERY tight....and I bet 1/2 that is from a couple of testy VC nylocks.... VERY HAPPY with this rate of consumption, in light of what Porsche specs......(amazing).

BEST!

My 85 was overfilled when I got it, so my use might not be the same from start to finish.

It is not yet at the mid-mark, and when it is, I will start to calculate. But my estimate is 1qt/2500 miles, if I'm right about accelerated usage when overfilled.

My 87 uses about a quart every 1000 to 1500 miles, I'm told thats very acceptable. Luckily my oil level gage seems to work and I'm still chicken so pull the stick ever other fuel fill.
Before re-build, I was using a quart per fuel fill. As we all know, the level is hugely dependent on engine temp..

My '88 uses 1 qt every 2000 miles. I change the oil at 3000 and add 10 1/2 quarts BP to land square in middle of the dipstick.
