1969 torsion tube repair.

I am in the process of repairing a friends 69 targa torsion tube. I located a good tube allegedly out of a 73 911s. It is solid as can be and was a good price. The problem is, ( Ihave a1968 in my shop that I just rebuilt motor)it does not appear to be of the same geometry as the 68, so probably wont fit the 69, which I have to tow in, but I dont want to get it until I have a tube to weld in.
I looked in the Stoddard catalogue for torsion tubes, and they had the same part # 911 331 010 02 grv from 65 to 86,.. So I thought a 73 would work.. Maybe not . Does anybody know what years will work for a 69??? Where to get one. Tepps. Does anybody need the one I just bought. ???

Is the '68 a SWB (short wheel base) and the '69 a LWB (long wheel base)?

Maybe that would account for the difference?

Check out this thread for some relevant info. . .

That is correct. '69 was the first year for the LWB.
