Small Plugs for Unused Screw Holes

I am in the process of removing my A/C components and have lots small holes in the body from the hose supports and other parts. I don't really want to leave these open, so what has everyone else used to fill these? I was thinking small (~5mm) plugs that I could just pop into them, but what about epoxy or other substances?

Epoxy = Next owner cursing you out on this forum...I do use windshield sealing tape as a supplement on occasion.

Why would epoxy be bad? It is for unused holes on the underside of the body.

Also, where do you find those plugs?

Epoxy is bad because I'll be cursing you out whilst digging it from screw holes with a dental pick when I re-install the A/C.

NAPA or any well-stocked auto parts store has those plugs. If not, try a hydraulic supply shop.

Local hardware store had all the plastic plugs I needed for the smaller round holes. A roll of duct material, tin snips, blind pop rivets, and some 3M sealer closed the rest.

A good source for that type of hardware is McMaster-Carr (McMaster-Carr) or another industrial hardware/equipment supplier.

My local hardware stores carry less and less of anything unusual, and the quality of the items they sell has been getting worse and worse. The exception is the commercial supply retailers.

I just ordered 50 plugs from McMaster-Carr, thanks for the link! It took me a while to find them, apparently they are called "Plastic rivets."

On a side note, I also ordered some carbon fiber tubing to make rings out of.

TheFONZ,
You got my curiosity. What are those rings for?

I have a carbon fiber wedding ring. It's not the most durable thing, so I'm always afraid to mess it up. Now I've got a foot worth of them! I just need to get some good clear epoxy.

Another option instead of plugs or silicone is to put the original screws back in. This way it's a win, win--holes are plugged and you know where the screws are in-case you decide to go back to AC.
