Ignition Switch

Hello,

I working on a 911s 1975 that I just got. FYI I do have a manual. I'm looking to buy a new ignition switch and remember hearing that ignition switches do effect performance is that true? I don't want to spend alot now. But if someone can recommend places to visit to learn more about parts and 911.

Also If you can tell me your opioion would you be a performance ignition now or and OEM just to get the car running?

Thanks

only in that it may not be able to get the car started

more specifics re "places to visit to learn more about parts and 911"?

this site is a 911 parts house...

stick with the OEM stuff right now; you may need new wires tho

why not start a new thread with pics of the car and engine compartment and etc.; go thru all service records and see what has been done to the car/what mileage & when - I always do this and put it all into an Excel spreadsheet when I buy a car.

if you need to know what parts to replace on a car that has been sitting a long time, then the #1 thing to do is all safety related parts:

- replace all rubber brake hoses with new rubber ones; flush brake fluid and inspect calipers and m/c ---> to avoid brake failure and crashes

- replace fuel hoses and old fuel; check all CIS components ---> to avoid engine fires

inspect all steering, tire, wheel and suspension components ---> to avoid crashes
note that tires must not be older than 5-7 years no matter how much tread is on them

generally, get the car back on its regular maintenance schedule, including long-term maintenance (e.g. suspension bushings, rubber ventilation hoses, etc.) - search up the 2 threads on long-term maintenance (one guy even made a nice spreadsheet for you)
