Central PA Region PCA Hershey Swap Meet

Greetings all Fellow Pelican Heads,
I have read a variety of perceptions,
the majority very positive, and please allow me to dispel some posted mistruths, improve upon others and whet your appetite for next year.

This WAS the largest Central PA Region PCA Porsche Only Swap Meet, ever. I was directing traffic from 7 AM-12:30 PM just past the toll booths into Porsche only parking, vendors, etc.

There WAS a continous flow of Porsches and non-P cars. There were a record 600 plus vendors, on the Largest Hershey Swap Meet acreage ever, and more than 1000 Porsches! We remain the largest one day gathering of Porsche's anywhere on the planet. In Swap Meet ever addition to ththharity concours and the for sale corral, the first Porsche Only Parking was filled at 11:30 AM with some 600 P-cars and a second lot was opened.

What there wasn't? Central PA Region PCA and Hershy Corp. worked on establioshing easy entry and exit to the swap. With additional completion of construction areas, there weren't any apparent traffic problems or delays. The mere record size and lack of congestion (prior year complaints) give the wrong perception that this was Truly the Largest and greatest
Posche only .

I was there

I thought there was more than 1000 PORSCHES. Thanks for the confirmation. I caught up with 4 of them on the turnpike and we "played" abit for the last 20 miles west to the Hershey exit. The MOST FUN I have had for awhile. At one point in the day I actually had tears in my eyes. 1000 PORSCHES! In ONE PLACE! Can you imagine? Just remembering it is getting me wound up. If you live within acceptable driving distance and you don't go next year, well, you just don't know what you are missing. The most PORSCHES ever assembled anywhere on the planet. WOW. It was beautiful.

Hello,

Thanks for the update, and welcome to the board!! This was my first Hershey experience, and I'm only 2 1/2 hours away. The trip was a blast, as a bunch of us P-heads drove west in a caravan from the NY area. I had no intention of buying anything big, and was more excited for the spirited drive and the display of the cars.....well, my jaw dropped when I saw what seemed like an entire mall parking lot full of every P-car I could imagine. And the concourse was pretty damn impressive too.

I applaud the PA PCA for organizing an event with that much eye candy!!! I'll be back. The only thing I could have asked for was a bit more sun, but that's entirely out of anyone's control!

regards,

Sorry for the bump....

It seems like a truly oversighted view for there not to have been more factory and dealer representation at the event. I would assume that Porsche has heard about this by now, and even if they haven't, what about people like Techart, BBS, and all of the other aftermarket companies? It might take away some of the "swap meet" feel, but it seems like a great opportunity to make some money and bring another dimension to the table.

My .02

Jared
