Direction of distributer rotation? daddy needs help again

Well, tonight I install the new Magnecore wires, plugs etc.. in my '77 930. I intially checked and marked the #1 plug wire location on the old cap then looked to see where #6 was in relation to establish direction of rotation. Conclusion was that it is clockwise. Well then I was thumbing thru my technical manual and it says that 78 model 930's have a counterclockwise rotation. I could not find my '77 model in the manual. I now am fighting in my head as to whether I looked at it correctly the first time or not. You see in the manual it kind of stated the 78 models counterclockwise rotation as if it were a change but without really saying so.

Why not just turn your fan with a wrench (as if you were adjusting the valves) & watch which way the rotor on the distributor turns? That should be the best way to tell.
regards,
jlex.

Oh, don't get me wrong I can think of many ways to figure it out. I guess my question was more a matter of interest in why they would, if they did, change the rotation after '77. But I do appreciate your replay, thanks.

This is going to get me in trouble with the SCWDP but I believe the distributor rotated backwards (CCW) during "those mixed up SC years" and returned to normal (CW) after that. :D
