Targa Bar Back
As some of you know I'm going thru the ole girl and one of the things I wanted to do was try powdercoating the Targa bar.One concern brought up by the board was UV rays. Well I found a guy who works primarily on outdoor furniture and auto stuff and there is an additive in the Dupont stuff to take care of that. The second thing was the wrinkle finish or texture that comes stock. Well, you can just about add any texture to the paint you want. My biggest problem was trying to figure out what it originally looked like as mine was already resprayed. What I wound up doing was matching it to the vinal "shark fins" in front of the fenders. Just a hint of texture and it really looks kinda cool. I've already droped the stupid thing right on the corner and whaalaa! no chips, no scratch, nothing. The camera is away at the moment but I'll post some pics if anybody is interested and I'll let you know the long term reports. I've had lots of trouble keeping paint where the top meets the bar. Hope this solves it. Oh I know somebody will ask... I paid $135 for the bar 2 doorhandles(smooth) and some of the mouldings that were faded.
