MFI - Fixed it.
Hi all,
Just thought I let those know whom have been so kind to help and offer advice with my "super stuck" MFI that I have finally fixed it. For others whom are or may in the future come across a MFI where the pistons or rack is stuck, one answer maybe perseverance. After days (literally) of soaking, easing, moving, amongst other things it began to free up. Then just at the point where I thought it time to venture into stripping it down and to boldly go into the depths of the pump or pay for a rebuild (£450 here in the UK) it went "click" and then worked. I couldn't believe it !!! the rack moves freely and I now know what it means when people have said "the rack should return back" and how the accelerator moves the rack. Basically I'm really happy that it's fixed and on the positive side at least now I know the in’s and out’s of a MFI. Thanks to all Alan.UK RHD 2.2S with original MFI pump_grin |
Congrats, Alan!
So, what solvent did you end up using in place of the B-12 Chemtool ... Toluene, Xylene??? |

Thanks Warren
I used diesel and also an injector cleaner, which you would normally add to a tank of fuel. I then sprayed carb cleaner after each soak. Also applying a little heat helped a lot. I've attached a pic but the quality is not so good. Alan.UK |
Good job and I hope that was all the problems you have with your long stationary 911!
