MM,
Any spring steel will loose a bit of its tension over time. I have had one torsion bar break in almost 20 years of driving 911's and that was in Germany when a tow truck picked up my car on the street. They lift it up with a overhead crane and I believe that they "yanked" it too hard and one bar broke... sagged to where the tire hit the fender lip anytime you hit a bump. Other than that you may notice a slight difference in the ride height but unless you bought a car, measured its ride height and then drove it for many years then measured it again would you really see any difference IMHO. My rear suspension is set at 26" height and my passanger rear tire is rubing the fenders....I dont feel it but there is a bubble in the paint and in the inside you feal the bare metal.....
Can this be the torsion bar? Going stiffer will help? |

Hello
Torsion bars will not sink down like a coil. They only brake if they have a "weak spot" mostly caused by rust piting. On the other side the rubber parts do wear out and this is the major issue. I never heard that the torsion bar brake while driving. And I renewed some from them the rear ones are a hard job if the brake in the inner end. Grüsse |
