ID this engine no: * 64 F03580 * ?

Curious if anyone knows. I don't have a tech book handy at the moment. Supposed to be an 84-89 3.2 but what else can I glean?

Kurt, according to the Porsche Family Tree book, that engine number is for a 1985 Carrera (64F00001 to -05109), 207HP @ 5900 RPM's.. not much help.. I know...

Regards

Actually, that's exactly what I wanted! You're told an engine is from here or there and is this or that, but who knows--could be a bored 3.0 for all I know

Thanks buddy!

If that's the case, then I'm assuming KG5001 would put me almost in the last 100 3.2s built?

If so, I'll get a big head about it being close to the last one. By the way, is there a good resource for this type of information on the internet? You mentioned the "Porsche family tree," I was wondering how you got that. Would it deail things like X number of coupes made, x number of those in black, etc?

Anything you can offer is appreciated.

Thanks again.

Jared

Jared,

I know you asked for an internet source for this type of information, but you should consider purchasing the Red Book. It has engine and chassis numbers by year along with info on spec's, colors, options, etc. I bought mine on Amazon for $9.99.

Thanks, I'll check B&N on my way home tonight. I'm basically looking to see where my car falls in the greater scheme of things (ie. 60th to the last coupe built, one of 300 black coupes in 1989, etc). Useless info, but it means something to me, if only for curiosity's sake.

I appreciate the tip.

Jared

Production of the 1989 Carrera was cut substantially compared to prior years due to the economy crashing and the introduction of the 964. For example, compare 1988 production to 1989:

1988 U.S. coupe- 2,916
1989 U.S. coupe- 1,156

1988 U.S. targa- 2,232
1989 U.S. targa- 860

I happen to have number 719 of the 860 U.S. targas made in 1989.
