Decel Valve Query

I have pulled out my CIS (1983 SC) and am replacing all of the hoses and worn parts. The previous owner took out the decel valve. I purchased a brand new one but have no idea how it is supposed to be hooked up. Unfortunately the parts diagram on Pelican does not tell me where exactly the hoses hook up on the throttle body (and elsewhere) and where/how the decel valve mounts onto the engine. Anyone out there have a series of photos of the decel valve and how it's hooked up to the CIS?

Thanks in advance for your help

BN

PS: many thanks to 47 Silver and his post on removing the CIS with no engine drop. It was invaluable.

Most people disconect the decel valve, its a big nuisance most of the time.

here is a pic of the assy. the decel valve is the round pot in the middle with 2 large hoses, and a small vacuum hose. (you can see the vacuume hose capped off)

Thank you Don,

If that's the decel valve then what is this?

Found these on another Pelican thread.

First one is of Decel Valve and second is of AAV, what ever that is!

Just found this comment again in another Pelican thread. Not sure if its correct or not :

CIS cars '76-'79 have the adjustable decel valve shown in the previous post. While the later SC's ('80-'83) have the type of decel valve that looks like an AAR with a nipple. These are two (2) different types of decel valves but with the same application.

My car is a 1980 and has the none AAV looking decel valve. So the one in my first diagram.

Thank you for the info. Ok - so if I understand it correctly, my 83 SC which has an AAV does not need the decel valve I took a photo of because the AAV acts as a decel valve. The confusion was that the Pelican catalog said that the decel valve I purchased was for an 83 SC.

So now I'm back on track. Many thanks to all of you for helping me figure this out. When my new cold start valve comes in I will be re-assembling the CIS . . . hope I remember where everything goes.

Cheers
BN

aux air valve (aav) and decel valve are two different things on 83 cis. the aav is the lower pot (round thingy) in my second pic. your pic is a decel valve, just not for your car. it is one for an earlier cis system.

Vacuum lines

As I ponder the reassembly of the CIS a couple questions come to mind regarding the routing of the small diameter hoses. There is one braided hose that runs from the valve attached to the distributor (electrical) to the CIS. Another line runs from the Ava to the CIS. Anyone know what nipples they attach to on the CIS?
Thanks
BN
