OT: Ferrari F60

I saw this picture the other day, and my initial reaction was that I thought it's one of the best car designs of all time.

Well, several days after first seeing it, my opinion hasn't changed.

The new Autoweek.

Full sized styling model being shown in Tokyo. So what does 650 hp, sub 4 second 0-60 times and 215 mph top speed add up to?

$450,000.

Did they just one up the GT-10?

There aint nothing like a ferrari. I meen who else can build a car that needs more service, bad build quality, and begins to show its age in dog years. And still demand these prices. I do have to agree though they are georgeous. Still would be afraid to own one, its kinda sadistic.

I have to disagree....that car is UGLY. Looks like it wants to be an Audi R8.
The F 50 wasn't much better.
Prospective customers can save $350,000 and buy the upcoming Ford GT-40.

I am a huge Ferrari fan. At the 50/50 at Watkins Glenn a few years ago, you should have seen the faithful tested as they crowded around a lone red Ferrari near the pits...

But this new thing is ugly. Too boy racer. Give me a 512BB any day...

Who in this country is going to be able to experience the full capabilities of a car like that? Those cars run a dollar per mile in maint., can't be parked anywhere, have the worst fuel economy next to a Lamborghini and spend more time in a shop than they do at home in the garage or on the road. While Ferrari has some super classic designs (or at least Pinanfarina does) and nothing sounds like their 12 cyl. engines, I'd have to say an F60 is nothing more than a status symbol, saying in effect, "Look what I can afford, but will rarely drive, never push to the limit and will always worry about."

I saw an F50 parked in front of the Willard Hotel in DC last summer. It was a real looker, but of course, no valet could touch it. So the guy took up the space right in front of the door and paid two valets to hover over it for a few hours, keeping the by-passers from getting too close.

Sorry - I like driving my P-car, shopping for parts, tinkering with it and knowing I don't have to worry too much when parking it somewhere.

I love Ferraris, but not that one. I agree it looks like a kit car, and worse, the rear end somehow reminds me of a new 'Vette. In my opinion, that car has nothing on the Testarossa and the new 360 Modena... in terms of looks, anyway.

That describes my 911 perfectly.

That's easy - that car's full capabilties are realized when parked in front of a club, trolling for trollops that are heading upstream to spawn...

Heck, *I* could get laid driving that car!

Cars in thier own right are not very photogenic (sp?). I have seen pictures of cars and thought they were ugly only to see it in person and change my mind to a good looking car (964). Ferrari makes some of the best looking cars, and they isually look better in person (Super America). IF I ever get a chance to see on of those in person, I'll make my judgement then. For now, I wouldn't kick it out of the garage.

Styling is subjective, but I think that thing is hideous.

Like a bad kit car.

The thing about trying to make a street car look like an open-wheel F1 car is a silly gimmick.

Daryl,

Well, it's a very purposeful design, and Ferrari have done a remarkable job of evoking a Ferrari Formula 1 car without having to make their version of a Lotus Super 7.

But, I think it's that nose, those hips and that rear air-vent design. Oh, and the canopy ... Fans of the 917 will understand.

I don't know; it just works for me.

the more i look at it the more it looks like an F1 car, i bet that shuewy get's the first one
and i'm guessing there may even be direct F1 technology onboard, there's got to be a very slick undertray with those looks
