Yeah....this is cool!

Still sorting through my images taken at last weekends SOVREN event at Pacific Raceways. While not 911 related, this little bit of craftsmanship comes from the shop of 356 Outlaw Guru, Gary Emory.....

Yes, it's a 356/4cyl motor modified with a Vertical Fan ala, 911.
The whole car contained so many examples of Mr. Emory's unique handiwork, it gathered quite a crowd in the pits.
Everytime I see one of Gary's creations, I feel like blowing a hole in the retirement fund!

Porsche Crest

I wonder if he used one of the VW Type 1 aftermarket cooling shrouds for the 911 fan conversion to base his on? Of course he had to 'wing' it on the generator stand adaptation!

It was kind of tough to get a real long look at the motor, due to the crowds of folks around the car. But to me, the parts sure looked like 911 stuff. Gary and his son, fab/modify just about everything they need in their Oregon shop.

Another example of *many* unusual and well executed details....

And the King of the Outlaws (Gary Emory), proclaiming the Outlaw creed to the faithful and the interested. (BTW, that's island911 listening intently, standing, upper left of the shot.)

Ahh hell, Gary has been doing that for years now...taking the middle two out of a 911 engine, carving a crank, twin plugging, etc. Old and "easy" stuff...right? 200 plus ponies, and the "new" 4 banger fits in a 356 like one should.

Errrrmmm...isn't that Gary's 4 cylinder 911 engine?

I was there but didn't have time to look at his collection..

Check out their website, this is an incredibly cool car. Judging by the process represented by the pictures, he probably could have bought a new 996 for the same price, but this is truly unique. I would LOVE to have something like that.
