Rear bumper fitment-from a 77 onto an 86

My plan is to pull the entire bumper from my 86 and replace it with another stock aluminum one with all the holes filled - for the "clean" look.
Can anyone tell me if the stock aluminum rear bumper from a 77 is the same width, height and hole placement as an 86? Thanks

The bumper itself is the same as far as I know. the valance is different for the Carrera. So the bumperettes are not interchangable, for midyear to carrera. They are SC to midyear afiak - not that it matters as you are making a smoothie.

The holes drilled into the bumper between the pre-Carrera and Carrera cars to mount the valence are also in a different location. So if you are planning on still using the lower valence you will have to re-drill all the attachment holes as well.

There also may be a difference in the clearance for the muffler/heat shield.

I retrofitted an older bumper (year unknown) to my '89 3.2 and had to cut out an area to accommodate.
