Finally! 911 3.2 rear speaker replacement without any modification

Finding a superior speaker for the rears in my 1989 Targa has been a challenge, but I found it, and within 30 minutes of time to install. The JL Audio C2-400x JL Audio C2-400X Evolution™ Series 4" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com

These are wonderful sounding speakers – BUT These speakers come with a brackets “frame” that match the thread holes of the original Blaupunkt speakers’ You know? The 1980’s paper cones that make even AM sound bad?
Nice thing is, you can remove the factory speakers to store, and use only the factory grill. It will fit with perfection, though, you will have to place the speaker that is a Coaxial UNDER the bracket, it will lock into place, be sure not to place it where the speaker itself will be in contact with the plastic frame, your old Blaupunkt grill will set fine on them and look like nothing was done; stop by a local car stereo place and get some of the stuff they use to hold grills in – I think they call it “dumb dumb”

Wanted to ask if this set of JL Audio speakers will work on my 1980 911SC. I have the back deck out and the original Blaupunkt speakers are only about 1.625" deep. Also, the new speakers all seem to have a 3+" diameter magnet on the back versus the original Blaupunkt just has about a 1.75" round back. It has made trying to manage the larger diameter of the new speakers magnet into the available space difficult. Thanks for any thoughts.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603843347.jpg

Here's a link to what I did in my '84 Targa.
