I see nothing wrong with that price at all:
By the way.. FOR SALE 1974 Ford Pinto Wagon, low miles, only smokes when started...Will do 140 downhill with a good tail wind. $42,000 will ship anywhere. lol

It looks like a "beyond excellent" example.
But $42,500! For that money I would expect something a bit more rare that an S. It should at least have a few concourse trophies to validate the authenticity and quality.

correct me if I am wrong, but aren't wheelwells supposed to be body color?
Otherwise a very detailed resto. For that kind of money, I would rather have something more rare. IMHO Chris |

Hard to tell from pictures of course, but that looks like one of those cars that has been restored to 'better than new', in other words when it left the factory it didn't look that good. So I guess if you want a 1968 911S that looks like the factory delivered it to a detail shop, then to you, you pay that kind of money. And it's probably worth it. But I think I'd be scared to drive it.

I think I'm going to make an offer. It will be tough fitting a small block chevy in there but I just bought a new sawzall and still have half a case of beer left.
Seriously, a ratty 68S (the "Orphan Year") should sell for about $6k, and I've seen very nice later Ss in the 20's, so in the absence of a Pebble Beach trophy or some specific provenance (e.g. belonged to Steve McQueen or something) I would be hesitant to offer $42k.

That's the thing - they've got some nice early cars from before and after that year right on the site for half the money and you wouldn't feel like you were farting in Sunday school every time you drove them. I rather like the 67 S they've got, except for those ugly seats.
