cam oil line from host not correct
I ordered cam oil lines, the ones with the section of black hose in them, for my '84 3.2 carrera and the left side is 2" short and not bent the same. Is the correct one availble? Is there an update and I need more pieces? Also the cam oil line screws into a fitting close to the distributor, which screws into the block. I believe it's called a screw socket. What sealing ring do I need? I havn't checked the right side yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So thanks in advance.

yep, there have been a number of posts on this, the part number changed. Here is a post I saved that has some links. I'd send you my part number, but I have an 87 and it might be different.

I think the part you are describing is a ferrule and the host sells it. it doesn't screw in, it just gets compressed to seal.

I still do recall having to do some research, since the original part numbers changed for some reason. I'll look to see if I kept that reference to a thread here. There was more than the normal level of confusion on it, and I think you need a diff part - a whole line as opposed to an extra part. Can you give the Part number you ordered? |

I ordered the left side only after I had to do the right. I have not installed it. I did have problems ordering it, and I haven't checked to see if I will have this same problem either now that I looked at your post. I ordered 930-107-347-10-M20 as well - IIRC, the original part# changed, and this is what was recommended - I even had to wait for a back order. I measured 13 linear inches end to end of the new part. Don't know my stock part length - (I'd have to remove the heater duct and distributor). Rats. I ordered OEM-93010734704, but they substituted 930-107-347-10-M20. I asked Judy about it and was assured it was a suitable replacement - and I never looked back. I can wait and work with them, although my order was made over a year ago (been working other things). Pictured is the drivers side. It's about 2" short and not bent properly. The passenger side seems that it will work but not exact. I'm hoping oem parts are availble.

- here's a pic of my new hose laid next to the original still in place. Does yours look like this? My new line does look shorter and may reach, but the profile will be lower and the cam oil line nipple is off to an inch or so to the right. I removed the heater duct - I may remove the dist cap, not the distributor. To your original question, I have 2 new sealing rings, part nos 900-123-115-30-OEM - these are the same PN's I used when I did the right side. If you could, let us know how you made out - and I will research to see if I can bend my cam line to fit. Threads here say it's possible, but I am not sure how much is reasonable. That's great news - this is the only car I have really worked on - the right side was the one that leaked on mine, and the replacement took care of it. I have done a lot of maintenance, and no oil drips on t he floor for one year now. I did no work this winter because I love driving it so much. Good luck and thanks.
About the vibe bracket - there was an update in 86 and rolled out Jan 87. I think mine already has it. In another thread, some cautioned about bending the line - eliminate stress or the line (hard Cam tensioner line) or it may snap. Curve ball is the hose PN change that you and I are going thru. I do not know the newer line PN or about the screw socket sealing rings. I posted the sealing ring PN above - the ones for the banjo fitting. |
