I am going for a week long vacation, it is about 500 miles each way and will be gone a week. I am thinking of taking the Pcar. I have cured the "hard warm start" and it is running really good.
What things should I check before this to try to eleviate any mishaps? I will check tire pressures and light, oil level. The only BAD news is my windshield wipers still don't work and I will need to fix them first. Any tips appreciated. Shawn |

Hi Shawn.
I wouldn't bother doing anything. 1,000 miles isn't far and as long as your periodic maintenance is up to date you will be fine. If you don't get around to fixing the wipers buy some Rainex (that's what we have in NZ, but isn't everthing from the US origionally ![]() Enjoy the trip, and it will be good for the car. Change the belt before you go and have the used one available as a spair. Then you'll know what to do if one breaks.

A thousand miles? That's just a hop, skip, and a jump for a healthy 911. The fan belt, yes. And a quart or two of oil, if you're using a brand that may be difficult to find enroute.

Yeah I know its not a real long drive but I would hate to have something happen away from home (and tools) and have to pay a mechanic! I just put on a new belt but I will be sure to bring the old one and those tools along. Great idea, I wouldn't have thought about it.
Anyone in the New Hwampshire area? Shawn |

Someone might help with the wiper question if you would be so kind as to TELL US WHAT YEAR IT IS!

My car is a 77, the wipers have been acting up for a while, I have posted it, and people have tried to help and we still haven't been able to fix it. The wiper motor will work (turn) until there is resistance, such as when the blades are on the windshield. I have 3 motors and 1 doesn't work but the other 2 do the same thing. I am thinking it might be the wiring in the car now?
I have basically given up on them for the rest of the summer and will try to fix them as a winter project, but now with this trip, they MIGHT be IMPORTANT? (safety). Bill I will do the RAINEX thing too thanks. Shawn |
