993 windshild in 964 rubber?

Good day folks,

Is it possible to fit a 993 front windshield in a 964 rubber seal?

I've seen a website selling heated versions of the screens which say 964/993 so I'm assuming it's common across both models. Just seeing if it's possible as I've got the chance of a used 993 screen for good money. I've already bought the 964 rubber to fit into my 1983 SC.

Cheers, JB

The best look IMO is to use the 993 window and seal, glue the window in. I've seen / heard of this being done, not sure if any other work is involved?

This is correct. I have a 993 screen and seal and it needs to be glued in. You will need a 993 rear view mirror as the glass comes w/ the mount bonded on. Any qualified window technician can do this. When my original glass got cracked, i actually had Safelite do the upgrade and i provided a new OEM seal. No issues with leaking or anything else.

Not sure you'd want to try that the 993 screen has a rubber seal bonded to it which mates to the seal for 993 ..
With the 964 seal there's not sufficient space for both ...

Update on this topic.

The 993 screen I was offered was cracked so I've sourced a 964 screen and going that way.

Cheers for the advice.

The 964 windshield and "Factory Seal" is the way to go for this upgrade.

Does anyone have recommendations for shops in SoCal / San Diego that have successfully installed 964 windows (front or rear) and 964 seals in a G Body?

When my 1989* coupe emerges from paint, I'd love to lose the old seal / aluminum trim setup.

*Late 1989 G bodies came with 964 windshield seals. Alas, my car missed the cutoff by ~74 cars.
