wire size in wiring diagram vs. AWG

I need to figure out what the equivalent AWG sizes would be for particular wires in the car. The wiring diagrams show the size of the wires as 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.5, etc. Do these represent the diameter of the wire in mm, or the cross-sectional area in square mm? If I know the answer to that, I can consult the wire gauge table to determine the equivalent AWG size. I'm pretty sure some of you guys know the answer.

I believe they are wire diameters in metric.

Good luck

I guess I should have googled first Apparently the sizes given are the cross-sectional area in square millimeters. I found this chart, courtesy of Eagle Day , PORSCHE, BMW, MERCEDES, AERO KITS, APPAREL, ACCESSORIES, PERFORMANCE , which also sells lots of Porsche electrical-related stuff, including all colors of wires.

Hopefully others will find this useful too.
