Temperature Gauge Fluctuating

Once the engine is warm my temp gauge registers temperature but the needle bounces around, about 1/4 inch. It's never steady. Im assuming this isn't normal. Sound like the gauge or a sender? Thanks for the feedback.

Loose connection on either end?

Disconnect the negative side battery for safety.

Pull gauge, and clean/polish the connectors. If connector is loose tighten it.

+1 go to the sender/switch and clean/polish as well.

If this does not fix it then it may be a bad sender or gauge. Before buying a gauge, see if a neighbor Pelican can lend you his to test. An excuse to meet for Beer and talk 911 shop :D
