Battery Issue - Window Operates w/Door Open
Battery is draining when not used. Have not yet measured drain or source (car is not here- limited access), but with key out of ignition I did notice windows still operate after door is opened which I suspect is related.
Is this an obvious fix? |
Check the door jam switches, if your dome light does not switch on when in switched position with the doors open, the door jam switches are not grounding ergo car thinks you are still in the car.
Remove the switches with an open ended socket wrench if possible while holding the button in place as not twist off the wire on the other end. Clean and polish the moving parts of the switch, test by touching the clean part of the jam, you should see a little spark (ground) and the dome light turn on. Plunge the button and the dome should turn off. Also the window operation should follow suit after you turn the key. ( Gosh, I hope this makes sense??? ) You may need to clean both sides before the switches work they way they were designed. If the wire is loose, re-solder it. Jim |
