Reading Recommendations

I am new to my 1970 911E. It is pretty close to stock, including MFI. Is there any “required reading,” a book that I should get that describes the MFI in detail and how to adjust, maintain, etc?

Also, there seems to be a great deal of “popping” noise when I come off throttle, such as at a stoplight or at the end of an exit ramp. Is this normal? It has a bit of a metallic sound to it. My first thoughts were that it was solenoids opening and closing, but I now have serious doubts that I am right.

Thanks,

Welcome to the world of MFI. You have also come to the best place to learn about them. Before you ask anymore questions, I want you to do three things. First read all the articles you will find at this link: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_MFI/TipMFI.htm

Second, do a search on this board for all MFI postings.

Third, get a Gunson Gas Tester. A quick search on this board will show you why it is an invaluable resource.

Finally, don't be afraid to ask questions!
