Wide body Targas

Good evening lads. I am thinking very much about flaring my car. 84 Targa. I think I'd like to keep it tail-less...? Please fellows, do any of you have any pics of wide body Targas I could peruse? Tail or no tail....I'd love to take a gander. Thank you to all that contribute!

Cheers,
Dave

I have a Targa as well, it is not flared but I have seen many flared cars over the years. I recently saw a 964 Targa with flares and I was less than enthused about it. The thing with flares is that they can be done very well and tastefully or they can just look ugly. I say if you are going to do it take the time to find some one who really knows what they are doing. I know this seems like it goes with out saying but some times people forget the obvious. See if you can see some of there work before committing to the job. Also some thing to consider is the color you will paint the car. In my opinion the flares look better with some colors, I dont know why they just do. The 964 I saw was a kind of sparkly deep purple and it was just atrocious. Best of luck on the conversion.

Regards
Dave

I have a factory M491 Targa and I love it -- one thing about converting a car, get the right rocker panels if you can. I think those large boxed rockers don't look right.

One thing I do like about the conversions, is with the narrow-body trailing arms you can run deep dish wheels for a great look. The turbo cars have wider trailing arms, so the wheels end up with very little dish to them.

Best,

Thanks. I've got a great body guy to do it. My car is black also. I'm still not 100% convinced I'm going to do it.....

Yea, deep wheels are definitely a positive aspect of this.....for me anyway.
