porsche power problem

i have a 77 911s that has zero power up to 4000 rpm,

when i rev it in neutral it goes slower up to 4000 rpm than hesitates than takes off this happens but its subtle.

when its in first gear it has no punch up untill 4000 rpm
the compression seems fine with the lowest being 120psi and the most being 140

ive tried everything i can think of but i cant nail it

Check the fuel filter, it may be clogged

massive vacuum leak?

Dirty/work spark plugs, distro cap and rotor, bad plug wires, if there is a fuel pump relay check it, check fuel pressure as well.

Check WOT (wide open throttle) Make sure you are getting it, this was my culprit. A screw had backed out in the linkage and was only letting the butterfly open about 20 degrees! Adjusted it and BAM (Or as clarkson would say - Powerrrr)

:)

If you ignition timing is off you may not be getting enough advance until the distributor spins with a higher RPM. Have you done a tune up recently where you may have moved the distributor?
