Dan, PPI's? sigh, the trouble is how thorough, and then is it a mechanical vs a body inspection. Too often I have witnessed a PPI from a mechanical aspect and the body gets a ding and scratch report, and upon further investigation, obvious details such as painted door pins, wrong hardware, inconsistent undercoating, poor pan replacement lead to the proverbial can of worms. As you know really good cars show in the details and the knowledge of the inspector. I can spend an hour with a car, and by that time i know what has been painted, what is correct and what is suspect. Mechanicals seem to be vital stat check, operation of safety equipment, comp/leak down, and there you go. I think the body is the most important part, everything else is bolted on.
back to your inquiry, the dealer? they know new cars, old cars are fillers. Independents , unless they are marque and model specific, will generalize in the report. And then it returns to body vs mechanical. Qualified eyes will see all, you know too! The other aspect of the PPI, it gets done by recommendation of and geographical area of the car and owner, and bias is suspect. Furthermore is the shops actual PPI checklist, rating system etc, Near concours cars can look great for an hour, and then "perfect" wears off,
You and I both know, buy a ticket and fly if its large $, Stratham is close enough for you, get in the car and drive it. I agree its nice to have a look before, but who is looking at what? so I am little pessimistic, is that so bad?

Damon,
06 Boxster S 40k miles so should be a fairly straightforward inspection of a fairly pedestrian car

Dan, Probably Porsche of Stratham, unless Harry (good guy!)is selling the car, my pessimistic bias on in house sales and inspection unless warrantied.

I know of another boxS in upper vt , guy just bought a 2010 Lambo spyder to replace the boxster s, same mileage, same car maybe?
color combo?
