Advice needed.
Distributor 4cyl/6cyl does not matter. Is there some way of figuring out what kind of distributors fit into a 2.0 911 engine, I would be looking for a cheaper one than the 0231159001 that is currently in my car. I would be mounting hall sensors and trigger-wheels for both cam signal and position signal to use with EFI conversion of my 2.0T. Helge |

You could run wasted spark mode with your EFI and just use a 36-1 crank trigger wheel and keep your existing distributor using the stock rotor, cap and wires.

A distributor for a 4 cyl engine would only have 4 lobes on the shaft.
How do you fire 6 plugs? Bob

You don't need lobes on the distributor shaft..it can be a gutted distributor just using the weights and springs for rotor phasing..the ECU does the rest.

The plan is to run both sequential coil on plug, and sequential injection.
I will design and lasercut a trigger wheel to replace the lobes. A PCB with hall sensors will pickup both the crank position and do cylinder identification. What I am mainly interested in is identifying a distributor that do not cost 3-4-500usd to do this, and if there is a distributor with correct diameter and length that can be driven with minor modification this is what I seek. I also see a potential of duplicating the custom distributor if there is an interest for it. and the electronics/trigger plate could easily be adapted to all air cooled porches. Helge |

If you want to go sequential the most cost effective solution is to use the Clewett cam sensor for your sync.

Agree, but still would it not be great to not have take down your engine, drill and tap into your camshaft to mount a pickup bolt, cover and sensor, this in addition to the triggerwheel, bracket and sensor.
Perhaps it is just me, but to slip in a distributor with all these features built into one unit makes sense to me. Also it would be easy to backdate to the original setup. any thoughts on what will fit the motor? Helge. |
