Question regarding CIS

Does any of you know if it's possible to 'transplant' the CIS from a 2.7 into a 2.4 (73.5 911T with CIS)?? Will the intake runners of the 2.7 'match' the cylinder intakes of a 2.4T?

The reason for the question (aside from the 'looks' of one piece intakes and the aluminum airbox) is that I plan to change the pistons with a higher CR and more agressive cams while preserving the CIS... and I thought (probably wrong as usual) that it may benefit from a newer mixture control, etc.

Any ideas, comments, suggestions?

Thanks..

I`ll take a stab at it. I think it depends on which 2.7 the injection came from. The 2.7S motor had larger ports. The standard 2.7 had the same port sizes as the 2.4TE motor. The standard size ports should be 32mm, the S had 36`s. If you are going to bump up the power you could always have both the runners and the heads opened up to a larger size with your current setup. The CIS system determines fuel requirements based on air pulled past the sensor plate. I would think you should be able to swap most of the other pieces back and forth. But you might be better off modifying the current setup you have if you are not changing the displacement. Dont expect much of a change in performance with the 2.7 injection.

Thanks Tinker.. I'm really not looking to any performance improvement by changing to the 2.7 CIS, just to clean up a little bit (one piece intakes look much better than what I have today with the 2.4T) plus the aluminum airbox, the performance will come from the pistons and cams..

Thanks again. regards
