1970 MFI E motor into a 1971 T-carb

so it has begun.

a long sitting, but freshly built 2.2E, stroked with 70.4crank, Hi-Comp 2.4 MFI = 190+hp@crank. Car is a stock 71T, except for sway bars and vintage alfa romeo front brembos for upgraded brakes(Eric Shea).

a lot of questions i have

1) is the 71-T-carb engine relay panel gonna work for the E ? is the harness going to be all there, ready for the MFI ?

2) the carb fuel pump is in the rear, MFI elec fuel pump will be installed in front. car already has both fuel lines.

3) fender oil cooler is a good idea

otherwise, plug-and-play ?

Reza

Thats just so cool, I turned up the volume and scared the children, they thought I had the 911 inside! 190HP is a good result for a 2.2. Nice.

I dropped an 73E 2.4 MFI engine into a 72 carbed T coupe and most everything was there waiting including the speed relay on the fuse panel, which was a surprise. All the wiring worked, all I had to source was the MFI fuel pump and the fuel filter/cold start housing and mount plus replumb the fuel lines.

Why mount the MFI pump at the front? It will get a bit busy up near the steering rack and fuel tank with the pump supply line, bypass line and ouput line plus return lines and T connectors, there is more space by the rear torsion bar mount surely? Plus less pressurised fuel line to leak. Still, should not matter what end of the car you fit it. Noisy though.

I have a 70 and it has the fuel pump up front in the smugglers box from the factory. All lines are easily within reach and noise is not a factor.
