Pelican Parts Forums - Question on reinstalling gauges...

I have found your link via Pelican Parts website. I am presently looking at your overview on the text: 101 projects for Porsche 911. My odometer recently seized. I sent it to North Hollywood Speedometer for repair. I now have it back and am ready to reinstall said gauge It was tough enough removing said gauge but, with some advice from Howard Gilson at Gilson Motorsports (Troy, MI) I was able to purchase a set of blue plastic tools from Harbor Freight specifically for the removal of the gauge. That part of the process went quite smoothly once I used the correct tool. My fear is reinstalling the speedometer! First should I use any lubricant on the crenulated rubber seal behind the speedometer bezel to make it easier to adjust when fitting it back. Also the three light bulb wires and their fittings were the most difficult to disconnect. I actually had to use pliers with a greater than thought amount of up thrust to get them out. One of the bulbs actually came loose upon this process and fell into the speedometer! North Hollywood got it out when repair was done. Might I also lubricate these collars for the leads also to make it easier to put them in? If lubrication were to be recommended what would you use? I was thinking about a very light application of vaseline on the above mentioned leads and crenulated seal behind the speedometer bezel. What do you think and/or recommend?

Lastly I took some notes when I removed the speedometer albeit they are not too thorough, and I took some photos of the wires before I removed them. These photos are also not real great because of the lighting and positioning of speedometer. They do show some good detail though. My BIG fear is that I should have marked all the leads very precisely and not taken it out with as much haste as I did. Can you help me out with this process of reconnecting the leads? Is there a schematic? And lastly should I lubricate the copper connections with wd40 or something? Any insight into my query would be greatly appreciated!

If this information is in your text I would certainly be willing to buy it! I'm thinking of buying it anyway as it appears to be very good and would serve me for future projects going forward.
