Now I'll be one of the Kuehl kids.
I've always wanted to be Kuehl. Now I can be! So, Griff is running a special - hoses, front serpentine condenser, high/low switch, sepentine evaporator, vent mod and drier. I'll run my Nippondenso and my stock rear condenser and see how Kuehl I get with these changes and going to R134a. Yeah, i could stick with R12, but since I'd eventually go to R134a anyway, I might as well go now, and figure out what the vent temp is going to be. Do any of you guys have the instructions for this stuff? I'd love to get started on reading the instructions. I find if I read instructions through three or four times, the job goes more smoothly.

Didn't see anything on their website -- what is the special?

911 special 1984 to 1989 package [911special1984to1989package] : Griffiths Technical Inc
...is what I bought. I'm not sure how I got to that page originally. As an aside; an open request: Hey, Griff? A .pdf of the instructions on the site as a download would be, umm, cool. ![]() |

I'm with you. After talking to Griff a couple times in the past week or so, I pulled the trigger on his special yesterday. I also ordered the variable fan switch.
My oldest son has agreed to help me when the parts show up, which will be a boon to my knees.

Maybe next year. Depends on how cold I get it this year. If it's not cold enough, I'll get the rear condenser and maybe a Sanden compressor. The Nippondenso is supposed to be good enough for the volume being cooled, so maybe no compressor until this one gives up. But the high-output fan and the fan controller are on the list. |

I've just spent my Easter break installing all the stuff from Kuehl's special. I'm now working on finishing up around the compressor and will then take the car to a pro to have it charged.
The whole thing was simple enough, all bolt on, even though my car is probably a pretty special case since it is a RHD cab. The hardest part was to get the hose between the front & rear condensor back into the engine bay, and I also chose to re-use the two protective hoses which were rather difficult to get onto the new hoses. I can attest to Griff being very patient and offer great support all the way through. I'm looking forward to having the system charged, although I may not use it much in the next few months - we are going into winter here on the southern hemisphere. ![]()
