High Idle Woes

Just installed SSIs, dumped most of the AC system, and took out most of the heater hoses and blower motor on our '79 SC. The car sat for most of the winter, we bought it last summer and as far as I can remember it wasn't idling this high last summer. My dad put some stabilizer, seafoam, in the fuel tank early winter. I've started indulging into the CIS Primer and replaced a few of the smaller vacuum lines, but the car still hangs at 2k at idle. It very slowly revs down but hops right back up when I drive it down the driveway. After a five minute drive, I don't need to use the throttle below 15 mph in 2nd gear as it just drives itself.

I installed the ER crossover oil pipe, but have checked the throttle linkage and all seems to check out there. The deceleration valve has a vacuum line out the bottom of it running towards the driver side of the firewall which isn't connected to anything at the moment. It doesn't change idle when I plug it with my thumb..

The car also has a pop off valve installed. With the car idling and airbox cover/air filter off I can hear audible sucking. I have been able to lower the idle while putting physical pressure on the air filter cover, pressing it farther into it's intended place.

Any help would be great and/or things I can test. I'll continue to do my CIS research, lots to research

The classic "full tony (boyt911sc)" vacuum cleaner test where you can pressure test it with a couple of psi of air and spray some soapy water will help you find leaks. Smoke tester works great too.

The AAR is what keeps the revs up when it's cold. Perhaps yours is not closing all the way when it heats up like it's supposed to. It could also be a leaky deceleration valve. Check out the CIS for dummies thread. It's the "go to" here.
