Lightbulb 1973 911T-142 Engine - Trying to gather info/advice

Hey, this is my first post; I'm new here. From my lurking, it looks like a great, welcoming community of friendly, helpful members.

I've got a Porsche 911 engine with transmission+exhaust that I'm doing research on in order to sell it. Aside from it being a Porsche 911 engine, I had no idea what it was. So far, my fairly extensive research has revealed that it's a 911T-142 (2.4L, although technically a 2.34L), with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. Wikipedia revealed that they switched to "K-Jetronic CIS (Continuous Fuel Injection) system from Bosch" in Jan. 1973 for the U.S. due to regulations. So I'm assuming that's what mine is. I haven't done research on the exhaust yet, but I'm assuming it's also Porsche (as opposed to aftermarket). I've been doing various work on it since I've gotten my hands on it, and put quite a bit of time into it. I'm looking to educate myself as well as possible prior to listing it up for sale, in order to sell it for its fair value, and make a well-informed, proper, honest sale.

I have pictures that I can upload if anybody would care for those. I don't know if the "pics or ban" attitude applies to pictures of an engine though

Any and all help/advice regarding the engine or its sale (e.g. what might be a good fair price to let it go for), is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
-Chris

I would post some pictures so that the experts can give you a more accurate figure. If known, you should also add:

1. when it was last run;
2. its history (the car, why it was pulled, rebuild, new parts, etc.);
3. where it was stored;
4. what it includes (MFI, exhaust, clutch and flywheel)
5. the engine and transmission numbers; and
6. any other available info.

Plus, everyone loves pictures!

EDIT: Also, where are you located and if you will crate and ship the engine....

Thumbs up

@coldstart

I would post some pictures so that the experts can give you a more accurate figure. If known, you should also add:

1. when it was last run;
info not available

2. its history (the car, why it was pulled, rebuild, new parts, etc.); info not available

3. where it was stored; it was stored properly, in an indoor storage unit

4. what it includes (MFI, exhaust, clutch and flywheel); it's a complete engine, with transmission, exhaust and everything you mentioned. The only thing is that I still have to double-check the exhaust to be 100% sure that it's Porsche, and not aftermarket.

5. the engine and transmission numbers; Below I'll list the potentially relevant numbers I've managed to get off of it so far (there are numbers all over everywhere; I used Google to figure out what they all were)

911T-142 / 901-106 101 5R (fan housing / alternator part no.) / Bosch 0 438 100 006 "060" (fuel distributor, fuel injection) / Beru W-Germany G1S (Connector system for ignition circuits) / Bosch EP/LKL 6/2 0 438 120 002 (Sensor / fuel distributor)

6. any other available info; none that I can think of at the moment, but I'll be sure to Edit in anything worth mentioning.

Plus, everyone loves pictures! Coming right up

EDIT: Also, where are you located and if you will crate and ship the engine.... I'm not exactly sure what goes into doing that, but I don't see why not. Also, I'm located in Southern California. Ventura County, to be specific.

Thanks for helping

that is a CIS motor - not MFI (so it will be worth less) - it also has early valve covers on it - see if they are Al (not Mg)

a leak down test with good numbers might help it sell

Thanks for the pointers. I was pretty sure it was MFI, based on my research (especially of the Bosch parts). I updated my draft and removed the MFI part.

I just posted the ad on eBay, in case anyone wants to take a look:

I'll make a FS post in the proper sales section of this forum today, most likely. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated, and will be taken into account. I want an honest sale, and a satisfied, informed buyer, and so I'm gonna put everything into the listing that should be in the listing.

Thanks!
-Chris
