Wayne, an update for 101 projects?

Well I am finally getting my MSD issues resolved thanks to your book and the help of those on this board. Anyway, as you know a few things were different than your article had stated. Would this be a good update to post on the 101projects.com website?

1. The trigger for the msd should be the magnetic pickup leads not the white wire.

2. The tach adapter required is not MSD P/N 8910 as your book and website state but rather MSD P/N 8920. P/N 8910 is for white wire(amplifier/points) triggered systems and P/N 8920 is for magnetic pickup systems.

I am not at all being critical of you or your book as I know it would be impossible to stay on top of every potential change but rather attempting to save the next poor sap like me from a weeks worth of frustration. Thanks again for all you do.

I've got the corrections for the reprint coming up this week. Can you give me more details on the exact problems that you had? The MSD unit that I have didn't have that wire...

To my knowledge all the MSD 6 series ignitions now have both the magenetic pickup wires and the white wire trigger you mention in your article. Here is where the rub comes in. I could be totally incorrect here but I did a ton of research after I could not get mine to run using the white wire. All 911's with the breakerless ignition trigger the the ignition via magnetic pulse(the green coax) and 911's with points trigger the ignition by breaking and making ground contact with the points. Msd says the white wire setup is for cars that use points and all others must use the magnetic pickup wires instead and you never use both at the same time. Also you need the other tach adapter I mentioned as the one in your article is also for white wire points triggered ignitions only. I would double check this with Early S as he seems to know these ignitions like the back of his hand. This info was confirmed to me by some on this and the 911 TURBO CLUB board. I appreciate your contributions to our little world and look forward to your next release. Thanks again.
