Talking Any California events?

Anybody know if there is any Paorsche events in California the weekend of August 18-19? Swap meets? Racing? Shows? I will be visiting from Massachusetts. Thanks for any tips.

Why not go to the Monterey Historic races that weekend, should be lots of interesting cars and the Porsche Corral is usually good for some nice cars. The featured marque is Bentley. You could also check out the Pebble Beach Concours and find out how the mega-rich spend millions to have somebody restore their cars and win prizes...
seriously, you should see it once, it's
impressive.

Besides the Monterey Historics, the only other event I have on my calendar page (http://www.nosubstitute.org/calendar.asp) for that weekend is a Tracquest DE at Buttonwillow Raceway (off the 5 near Bakersfield).

If you can make it to Monterey for a day that would be the place to be...but it could be a long haul depending where you are in Calif.

Thanks. I had no idea that Monterey was that weekend! That's easy! I'm staying in San Diego, but I'll drive right up the PCH.

Word to the wise, the local Monterey hotels/motels get booked many months in advance of that weekend. Perhaps worth trying to call ahead for reservations to some of the outlying areas such as Salinas, etc.

Good luck, the races/concours are fantastic events and not to be missed!

Takes a day
to drive to Monterey.
From San Diego.
California is 1000 miles long and 101 or 1 is even longer.
Fly, probably San Jose would be the cheapest from S.D., but certainly worth the trip!!
SD to Mont. 450 mi. approx.

Mrdi is right, that's a helluva drive from S.D., especially if you hit traffic (and you will, unless you leave at midnight.) You can probably fly on Southwest from SD to SJ, rent a car at the airport, and drive about 75-90 minutes back down to Monterey. It's not a bad drive at all compared to the 6-7 hrs or so it would take you from SD.

Enjoy,
Chris C.
